If you have been summoned to appear for jury duty for the month of November 2024, you have been excused and are not required to appear.  No cases are proceeding to trial.

Jury duty is an obligation and an honor. As a juror, you do not need any special knowledge or ability to participate. It is important that you keep an open mind, pay attention to the proceedings, and let neither sympathy nor prejudice influence your decision.

 

Be advised that jury duty may involve long periods of waiting.  Please feel free to bring reading materials with you.  We will do our best to minimize periods of waiting and we appreciate your patience.

If you are summoned for jury duty, please call the court at 206.973.4613 after 5:00 p.m. the evening before your scheduled jury service for a recorded message.

Occasionally, a case may settle before a scheduled jury trial and the recorded message will advise you whether your appearance is necessary.

Compensation: Payment for jury service in the City of SeaTac is $20.00 per day plus mileage. Payments are processed every 2 weeks. You will receive a check within 4 weeks of service. Juror service fee and mileage will appear on the same check.

Check-In Time: Check-in time is 8:00 AM. You will be subject to a security check prior to entering the jury assembly room and/or courtroom. We appreciate your patience during the screening process.

What to Bring: Jury service can entail long periods of waiting. We encourage you to bring reading material, crossword puzzles, etc. with you.

Length of service: Jury duty in SeaTac Municipal Court is for a minimum of two days or for one trial if selected as a juror. Most trials begin and complete in one day. However, if a trial does not complete within one or two days, you will be required to return and complete your service. If you are not selected to serve on a jury, you will be excused and your obligation is complete.

Parking: Parking is available at SeaTac City Hall and may be limited. An electric charging station is available for those with electric vehicles.

Jury Environment: To assure that jurors are maintained in as objective an environment as possible, jurors will be expected to remain in the jury assembly room when not assigned to the courtroom. You must wear the juror badge at all times while you are on jury duty, including breaks and lunch. When assigned to the courtroom you are under the supervision of the court staff who will be your source of information. Please be aware that you will be prohibited from using cell phones, laptops, iPads, and other electronic devices while in the courtroom and jury room.
