In the coming years, the City will replace several outdated "Welcome to SeaTac" signs and other City signs with new signs that are modern, fresh and reflect our vibrant community. These concepts are intended to celebrate the City's identity and separate it from the International Airport and neighboring communities.

There is a total of six different sign concepts presented for community feedback.  The final design may be a combination of the different design elements.

SIX PROPOSED DESIGNS

There are two different sign types proposed.  There are three options being considered and one will ultimately be selected by the special Ad Hoc Committee and Council.

The two different sign types proposed:
1. There are three large designs that welcome people to the City and will be located at a prominent location in the City.  These are often referred to as monument signs.
2. There are three "families" of signage that will be located throughout the City.

Deputy Mayor Senayet Negusse

Staff Coordinator: Anita Woodmass, Senior Management Analyst

The design effort will be guided by a formal Stakeholder Ad Hoc Committee review process and Citywide engagement, with the support of a consultant and vetted by City staff.  The Ad Hoc Committee will review and provide feedback on the general aesthetics of the signage and gateway treatments, ensuring that the proposed signage design(s) reflect the City's desire to provide a clear and consistent community identity. Ultimately, this project will be presented to City Council for approval and at a later state, continue to final design and implementation.

Next Steps

Following the results of the survey, staff and the Ad Hoc Committee will review the feedback and make recommendations for revision, design, preferences and work to finalize a design.  Based on community feedback, the end result may be a combination of the different designs.

This design will be presented to Council for feedback and a recommendation.

Once a design has been selected, phase two of the project will focus on the construction and installation of the new signs throughout the City.
