The following list is provided to assist with common issues and needs faced by seniors in our community. The SeaTac Senior Program, located in the SeaTac Community Center, is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and staff will be happy to help connect you to the appropriate resources for your situation.

Pathways Information & Assistance

City of SeaTac Human Services
The City of SeaTac funds a variety of local service agencies and offers services for SeaTac residents, including minor home repair and assistance for those experiencing homelessness.

Transportation

King County Metro Access
Eligible individuals (those with a disability which prevents them from using regular public transit) can schedule accessible transportation to locations within King County. Requires application and medical assessment.

Hyde Shuttle
Provides door-to-door van service for older adults and adults with disabilities within local service area. For SeaTac riders, this area includes SeaTac, Tukwila, and St. Anne’s Hospital. No fee, donations accepted.

Volunteer Transportation (Sound Generations)
Volunteer drivers provide free, personalized, and safe transportation to healthcare appointments and will wait with the client until they are ready to return home.

Hopelink Medicaid Transportation
Hopelink brokers non-emergency medical transportation in King County for medical services covered by Medicaid.

King County Property Tax Exemption
Seniors in King County age 61 and over may qualify for a reduction in property taxes. Apply online or call the number above for assistance.

Multi-Service Center (Rental Assistance, Emergency & Transitional Housing)
The Multi-Service Center provides a variety of housing assistance, including one-time emergency rental assistance and affordable senior housing options.

Health & Medical

Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors
A free, unbiased and confidential service of the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner. SHIBA volunteers help seniors with their Medicare questions and options. The SeaTac Senior Program offers in-person SHIBA appointments monthly.

Meyer Medical Equipment Center
The MMEC offers a wide variety of gently used equipment on a donate-what-you-can basis, without any eligibility requirements or application process that might place a barrier between a person with a disability and the equipment that they need.

Food Support

Meals On Wheels
Program accepts King County residents aged 60 or more, who have difficulty shopping or cooking. Healthy, satisfying frozen meals are delivered weekly by friendly volunteers.

Chicken Soup Brigade (Lifelong)
Provides food and nutrition services to improve the health of individuals living with serious illnesses or those recently discharged from an inpatient hospital stay. Proof of income is requested but not required to receive services, as service is prioritized to those with the highest needs.

Congregate Meal Program
The SeaTac Senior Program and other area senior centers participate in the congregate meal program, providing hot, wholesome meals to older adults in group settings at least once a day. SeaTac offers lunch, Tuesday through Friday at 11:45 AM for a suggested donation of $4.50 (age 60+).

Financial Assistance

Tax Preparation Services
During tax season, AARP and the United Way both operate several local sites offering free tax preparation services. Sites may change from year to year, and some sites require an appointment. Contact the SeaTac Senior Program for up-to-date information.

Emergency Assistance (Catholic Community Services)
The Emergency Assistance program helps with a variety of emergency and basic needs. To access services in SeaTac, please call the intake line above on Fridays between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Due to limited staffing resources, you may experience a busy signal, continuous ringing or no answer. You must get through to a live person and obtain an appointment to receive assistance.

Home Maintenance

City of SeaTac Minor Home Repair Program
City of SeaTac offers a Minor Home Repair Program for income eligible SeaTac homeowners.  Residents are required to have owned and occupied their home for at least one year, have current homeowner's insurance, and not intend to move in the near future.

King County Housing Repair Program
Provides funding for housing repair services to low-income homeowners and special needs renters in most parts of King County. Examples of repairs offered include roof, septic, or heating system installation, health & safety repairs, or funding to make residence more accessible.

Weatherization Program, KCHA
King County Housing Authority's Weatherization program helps low-income homeowners and renters reduce their energy costs and improve the indoor air quality of their homes.

Volunteer Services (Catholic Community Services)
The mission of Volunteer Services is to assist low-income older adults and adults with chronic illnesses or disabilities remain independent in their own home. Volunteers help older adults by providing companionship and performing light housework and other simple chores.

Energy Assistance

Multi-Service Center (Energy Assistance)
MSC helps households in South King County meet the financial challenges of increasing energy, water, and sewer bills, and may be able to provide portable AC units. MSC administers the state LIHEAP and Puget Sound Energy HELP programs.

Puget Sound Energy HELP Program
PSE provides qualified customers with bill-payment assistance beyond the Washington state LIHEAP program. You do not need to owe a balance on your PSE bill to apply.

Legal Services

Neighborhood Legal Clinics (King County Bar Assoc.)
Free 30–60-minute consultations with volunteer attorneys at 30+ locations across King County. The purpose of the NLC program is to offer free, limited legal advice and referrals to King County residents who might otherwise have no access to the legal system.

Elder Law Clinic (Sound Generations)
Seniors may schedule a free, 30-minute appointment through the Elder Law Clinic — a partnership between Sound Generations and the King County Bar Association. Attorneys at the Elder Law Clinic are available to discuss Power of Attorney, Guardianship, Wills, and Estate Planning. Appointments are available in Seattle or Kent.

Long-Term Care Ombudsman
The Washington State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates for the rights of long-term residents living in licensed long-term care settings such as nursing homes, adult family homes, and assisted living facilities.

Caregiver Support

Sound Generations Caregiver Support
Caregiver advocates offer free, confidential, and personalized services to unpaid caregivers residing in King County who are caring for an adult 18 years old or older. Advocates help identify community resources and assist in securing needed services, including caregiver counseling, home visits, and follow up.

Adult Protective Services
Adult Protective Services investigates reports of abuse, abandonment, neglect, exploitation, and self-neglect of vulnerable adults in Washington State.

One Step Ahead Fall Prevention (King County EMS)
This program provides a free in-home or virtual visit by a fall prevention health educator, who will provide a home safety walk through to address potential fall hazards. To enroll you must be a resident of King County (excluding Seattle), 50 years of age or older, ambulatory and have fallen within the past 6 months and called 911. These services are not available to residents of assisted living, nursing homes, adult family homes or on hospice services.

Mental Health

Geriatric Regional Assessment Team
GRAT offers outreach, comprehensive assessment and early intervention for aging adults who are escalating toward crisis. A team of experienced clinicians provides outreach to adults 55 and over who have been referred for services by family, friends, or others concerned for their safety and well-being.

SeaMar - Latino Senior Nutrition & Outreach
SeaMar provides healthy and fun activities for Latino seniors age 60+ at various senior centers in King County. Seniors enjoy nutritious meals and benefit from socialization and health education opportunities. This program meets weekly at the SeaTac Senior Center.

The SSHP is designed to support Somali-speaking seniors residing in South King County to have greater social connectedness and greater knowledge of how to care for their physical and mental health.
