About this Project

The City is engaged in a two-phase project to replace the City Center Plan, adopted in 1999. Phase 1 of the project, which established an updated growth and development vision for the area, was completed in March 2020, with adoption of the Phase 1 Vision Report. The main goal of this phase is to complete a subarea plan that identifies how to implement the updated vision for the district.

•  The City Center/Airport District Subarea Plan project is currently on hold to ensure project alignment with potential new growth and development policy guidance identified within the Envision SeaTac 2044 major periodic update of the Comprehensive Plan. The subarea plan project will move forward after the completion of the Envision project, which is scheduled for adoption in December 2024.

Community Engagement Activities to Date

COMMUNITY DESIGN WORKSHOPS (JULY 18-20, 2023)
Around 90 people participated in the workshops and shared ideas on how the district can become a more vibrant, walkable, urban place. Project staff appreciates the thoughtful discussions and insights provided by local residents, businesses, and others interested in the district. 

BIG IDEAS POLL (JANUARY-APRIL 2023)

More than 400 people took the Big Ideas Poll which was available on the project website from January through April, in the City's five official languages (English, Amharic, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese). The main goal of the poll was to help gather new ideas and confirm the vision for the City Center/Airport District. Input from the poll will help shape refinements to the District's long term development vision.

Results of the poll will be posted on this website.

Project Timeline

The City Center/Airport District subarea plan project is on hold to better align with the Envision SeaTac 2044 Comprehensive Plan Update Project schedule and outcomes, and will resume after the Envision project is completed in December 2024.
